Mr. Hanson is a partner in Cates, Hanson, Sargeant & Rakestraw, PLC. He graduated from the Arizona State University College of Law in the top third of his class and was the recipient of several awards while a student there, including a Dean’s Award from Arizona State University College of Law, Student Fellow by the Arizona Bar Foundation, and Outstanding Student Volunteer by the Maricopa County Bar Association. He also was twice noted in Who’s Who of American Law Students and has been the author of several published articles.

Mr. Hanson has handled a wide variety of legal matters as a director of a low income legal services project, as a Rule 38 prosecutor through the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, and in his own private practice as a trial attorney with an emphasis in family law, personal injury, and commercial/construction litigation. He is admitted to practice both in Arizona and the U.S. District Court. He is a member of the American Association for Justice, the Arizona Trial Lawyers Association, the Construction Law and Litigation Sections of the State Bar of Arizona, and the Family Law and Litigation Sections of the Maricopa County Bar Association.

  • Client was charged with sexual conduct with a minor, facing four to 12.5 years in prison; was sentenced to 4.5 years. (Gila County Superior Court, Globe Arizona)
  • Client was accused of child molestation, facing life in prison hired this firm and through our efforts prevented charges from being filed. (Apache Junction, Arizona)
  • Client was charged with indecent exposure with a special allegation of sexual motivation, facing jail and registering as a sex offender for the rest of his life. Arranged a plea where the allegation of sexual motivation was dropped and client was not required to register as a sex offender. (Glendale Municipal Court, Glendale, Arizona)
